Graduate Admissions
Lecture Series for 2010
One of the chief indicators of academic excellence for undergraduate institutions is the percentage of students who go on to graduate study. To help students succeed, Donald Asher has toured the nation for the last twelve years presenting information from his book Graduate Admissions Essays: How to Write Your Way into the Graduate School of Your Choice.
The programs consists of strategies for gaining admission to the most competitive programs in the nation—academic programs(master's and doctoral) and pre-professional schools (law, medicine, business, architecture, etc.)—and is appropriate for all classes from freshmen to alumni.
The lecture usually runs an hour and a half, including Q&A, but can be compressed to meet other time constraints.
With initial approval from any administrative department, joint sponsorship with student clubs and organizations is a excellent way both to diffuse expense and to promote the even with interested students. All academic honor societies, pre-med, pre-law, marketing/advertising/business clubs and other student groups make outstanding co-sponsors. The best time to approach these groups is four to eight weeks before the event, though the booking decision typically must be made much earlier.
